Our Tutoring Plans, Explained

Effective from August 17, 2026, applies to all current and future enrolments. All prices below are in Australian dollars and include GST.

Thanks for choosing Avin Learning!
Here's an easy to read guide to how our two tutoring plans work, including what happens if a session needs to be rescheduled or missed. If anything below isn't clear, just reach out and we're happy to walk you through it.

Avin Learning provides two seperate plan options, each with its unique pricing structure and policies, featuring varying fees based on the student's academic year.

Flexible Plan

The Flexible Plan is week-to-week, with no lock-in. It’s great if your family's schedule tends to shift around. If a session doesn't work out, you'll get credit rather than losing the payment, 48 hours notice applies.

Fees

Payment

We take payment one week before each session, so your child's spot is always secured ahead of time.

Keeping Your Spot

To hold your child's regular time with their tutor, Flexible Plan sessions continue automatically from one term to the next. If you'd like to stop, just let us know at least a week beforehand.

Need to Reschedule?

No problem! Just give us 48 hours' notice and we'll move the session for free. Rescheduled sessions need to happen within the next two weeks, and if your usual tutor isn't free at the new time, we'll find a great alternative.

  • If sessions start building up,  say, [5] weeks in a row without one being used, we'll reach out for a friendly check-in, so we can adjust your plan together before it becomes a bigger backlog.

Cancellation of Sessions

Cancel with at least 48 hours' notice and you'll get a credit, which is automatically applied to your next session so you simply skip that week's payment. Cancelling with less than 48 hours' notice, unfortunately, isn't eligible for credit.

Credits need to be used within 8 weeks of the cancellation. We'll send a friendly reminder before any credit is due to expire.

School Holidays

We don't run sessions unless you'd like tutoring to continue. Just let us know ahead of time if you'd like to keep going over the break.

⚠️One thing to watch for: because payment is taken a week ahead of each session, you will see a payment go through during the final week of the holidays. That's not a mistake, it's simply payment for the first session of the new term, taken on its usual weekly schedule. If a charge ever looks off, just reach out and we'll happily explain exactly what it's for.

Committed Plan

The Committed Plan is for families ready to commit to weekly tutoring for a full school term. Because that reserves your child's time with their tutor exclusively,  we stop offering that slot to anyone else, we're able to offer it at a lower rate. In return, we make sure every session you've paid for is either delivered or made up, as explained below.

If we can't find a makeup time

Sometimes a suitable makeup slot just isn't available within those two weeks. When that happens, we place the session on hold rather than let it disappear:

Because a Committed enrolment reserves your child's time exclusively, we give every held session a genuine chance to be used. First within the term it was paid for, then one further term on top of that as a grace period. This reflects the same exclusivity you're paying a lower rate for: the time is protected for that period, and after that, it's treated the same as any other reserved time that ultimately went unused.

  • A held session can be used any time before the end of the current term.

  • Still unused by the end of that term? No problem! It automatically rolls into the following term.

  • If it's still unused after that second term, the session will be treated the same way as any other reserved time that went unused, and won't carry over further.

  • If sessions start building up — say, 5 weeks in a row without one being used, we'll reach out for a friendly check-in, so we can adjust your plan together before it becomes a bigger backlog.

If your circumstances change mid-term

Because the Committed rate depends on a full-term commitment, we're generally not able to cancel partway through a term. That said, we understand life happens! For genuine situations like a serious illness or injury, moving away, or another significant family circumstance, just get in touch and we'll work through it with you.

For example, this could include things like a significant illness or injury, moving out of the area, or another serious, unforeseen family circumstance.  This isn't a complete list, and we'll consider each situation in good faith.

Where we do agree to an early cancellation, any remaining prepaid sessions for the term are converted into account credit — usable in a future term, or for a sibling, rather than a cash refund, unless we agree otherwise.

School Holiday Pauses

We don't run sessions during school holidays, unless you'd like tutoring to continue. Just let us know ahead of time if you'd like to keep going over the break.

⚠️One thing to watch for: because payment is taken two weeks ahead of each session, you will see a payment go through during the final two weeks of the holidays. That's not a mistake.
